Reviews Summary
Visitors are consistently amazed by Teotenango, often calling it one of the most incredible archaeological sites they've visited, especially given its low visitor numbers. The well-preserved pyramids, breathtaking views, and the option to climb structures are major highlights. Some note the hike to reach the site and the lack of shade as considerations.
"I was not expecting much when I went and it was probably the most amazing archeological site Ive ever been to. We had a tour guide and It was about an hour and half of walking. He was extremely knowledgeable and very detailed with the explanations. He also taught us about the medicinal herbs that they used and had us pick herbs to take home with us. The views are extremely breathtaking. Very well preserved. Be prepared to hike for about 20 minutes before getting to the site."

"One of my favorite archeological sites that has few visitors. Several pyramids and a ball court. Visitors can climb the pyramids, and even picnic on top. The museum is also very good. The site is on a hill overlooking the Valle de Toluca, with great views on clear days. Best to go in cooler months as there is no shade. And it takes so.e planning to get there from Mexico City, but easily done as day trip."
