4 nights in Tulum
Booked a 4 night stay at the Hotel Paraiso, we are pretty excited about it considering this is our first time in Tulum. After reading everyone’s comments in here about it though, I’m leaning towards never leaving the hotel. How valid are the concerns , and will it be safe?

Just got back from a week in Tulum. Here is my experience. Ask any questions you would like!
Truly had an amazing time. Huge thank you to everyone here. All the advice was extremely helpful. I will say that as I was researching here, it made me nervous that I wasn’t going to have a good time. Totally wasn’t the case at all! We had such an adventure in this Mexican…

My wife and I are staying in Playa Del Carmen in a couple months. Would love recommendations on things to do if we visited Tulum.
First time ever visiting. Most interested in visiting Mayan ruins and cenotes. Would like to maybe find a cheapish snorkeling tour of one. Also wondering what the best way to get to Tulum from playa del carmen is. Should we rent a car, take a taxi, or bus?

Reviews Summary
Visitors often praise the Tulum Hotel Zone for its stunning beaches, tranquil atmosphere, and attentive staff, making for a peaceful and relaxing stay. However, some guests have been surprised by unexpected taxes and fees, and the presence of sargassum on the beaches can detract from the experience.
"Lovely Stay at Hotel Paraiso 💕
I had such a peaceful and relaxing time at Hotel Paraiso. The whole place was spotless, and the atmosphere felt calm and welcoming. The staff were genuinely kind and attentive — it made me feel so well taken care of.
Breakfast was nice, though I personally would’ve loved a bit more egg in the omelet and the fruit juices were a tad too sweet for my taste. Just small things, really.
Overall, it was a beautiful stay and I’d happily come back again!"

"Peaceful Escape with Excellent Service 🌿
Hotel Paraiso was just what I needed — peaceful, spotless, and incredibly welcoming. The staff were attentive and kind, making the whole experience feel effortless and relaxing. Everything from the room to the common areas was clean and well-maintained.
Breakfast was decent, though I personally would’ve liked a bit more egg in the omelet and the fruit juices to be less sweet — but that’s just me being picky. Overall, a lovely stay and I’d definitely come back!"

"Well, I don't know what to say... Although the stuff is friendly (a young lady in the front office), we were disappointed. When you make a reservation through booking, you have to expect that you will be charged taxes and fees (over $100). When you arrive at the reception, you will be informed of the fact that we have to pay an extra few dollars for being in a nature reserve. I understand that this is the rule, but they should also inform about this on booking. What a surprise when you pay hundreds of dollars extra for accommodation that does not really correspond to what is offered. I also have to point out the large number of mosquitoes, we were covered in mosquitoes at every step. The beach was full of sargassum, which of course the hotel cannot control. Otherwise the beach would be beautiful"
