What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are consistently impressed by the sheer scale and grandeur of the Tzintzuntzan Yácatas Archaeological Zone, with many highlighting the stunning views of Lake Pátzcuaro. While the site is vast and awe-inspiring, some reviewers note that maintenance could be improved, particularly regarding faded signage and occasional museum closures. Despite these minor drawbacks, the experience is widely considered well worth the visit for its historical significance and natural beauty.
"Visited on a Monday, the video was not offered to us, in fact the lights were not turned on for us and the museum was closed and appears that it might be regularly closed as there was yellow tape across the stairway, which was down, so we walked around the museum anyway. The complex is poorly maintained, the signs that could explain what we are looking at, are so faded as to be useless. It is such a massive site and could be a tremendous gift to visitors. Alas, we were left to speculate the history and in some cases, guess which way we should go next!"

"Stunningly huge. Seeing this place in person is well worth your time. Pictures just don't do it justice. There is a interpretive center with items found on site. Walking around the features humbles you. The Purpechan culture is/was highly complex and vast. Well worth your time"
Ranleigh Hirsh
"Great view to the Pátzcuaro lake. the zone is easy to walk and they also have a small museum. In the outside one or two vendors with excellent prices. Get your souvenirs here instead of the larger cities."
