Reviews Summary

Visitors praise El Partenón for its stunning architecture, breathtaking ocean views, and the compelling history behind its transformation from a corrupt official's estate to a public cultural space. The sunset views are a major highlight, and the local art exhibitions add a vibrant touch. Some note the cafe only serves drinks and that reaching the site involves an uphill walk.

"A powerful reminder of the consequences of corruption. This initiative by local and federal governments to recover and rehabilitate spaces like this—while keeping them open to the public—is truly admirable and encouraged.

The site offers a few key attractions, primarily the compelling history behind the place. Several rooms have been repurposed to showcase and sell artwork from local artists, adding a creative touch to the experience. However, the real highlight is the location itself, especially when you consider it was once the lavish vacation home of a public official. It’s absolutely worth a visit.

The site retains the foundation of the original construction, adorned with Greek Parthenon-style finishes that give it its name. Towering columns support the structure, lending it a solemn and awe-inspiring appearance. Expansive gardens and a breathtaking sea view, worthy of any fantasy setting, further enhance its charm. Additionally, the place features restored statues from the original construction, adding a touch of grandeur and magnificence.

One thing to note: There’s a small coffee shop on-site, but it only serves hot and cold beverages—no food or snacks. Plan accordingly"

"If you have not been yet, go check out this place. For many of the older locals, it brings back painful memories but hopefully this place is being put to good use and the money raised goes back to the community. The building has been restored very nicely. I am someone that saw the place during it's wild heyday and was at one of the last party there. It sure brings back memories. Very different now! Some great views and great place for pictures. Several rooms used for displaying local artworks. Many concerts are taking place there and I can only guess the use of the place will expand as they gain experience running it. Very good staff at the entrance making sure it goes smoothly. Fees vary depending on age and if you are local or foreigners. Adult tickets are 100 pesos, free for over 60. There is no alcohol sales on the premises but a cafe is on site also offering pizza, sandwiches and sweets. The coffee is very good and from Veracruz. Their staff is awesome too!"

"I went before the renovation and when I saw it recently couldn't believe how beautiful they left it. The view is spectacular. It's breathtaking. They have food and drinks for sale if anyone is wondering. It's a must if you are in Zihuatanejo or Ixtapa."
