What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the breathtaking views of Budva's Old Town and the crystal-clear waters, making it ideal for relaxation and snorkeling. However, the beach can become extremely crowded and commercialized with paid chairs, and the pebbled shore necessitates water shoes.
"Whereas I don’t like to go to this beach in the summer to swim and sunbathe, it is such a stunning location to admire the architecture of the old town, Saint Nikola island, and the gorgeous water. The scenery is breathtaking, making it an ideal spot to sit back, enjoy a cup of coffee, and soak in the sun. It’s a great place to take in the beauty of Budva, even if the beach itself gets too crowded in peak season. Beautiful views and a perfect atmosphere for relaxation."

"The beach is simply wow. If you like snorkeling, then this is the place to be!!! I saw thousands of fishes and even an Octopus. For that, i did not even need to go deep in the water. Its slippery at first, you need shoes. The water is pretty clean, the beach is small and gets filled up fast. The view is amazing! We sat in the nearby restaurant for drinks as it was quite sunny. We had quite a fun day:)"

The Charm of Richard's Head Beach
The beach's appeal is amplified by its excellent conditions for snorkeling. The clear, shallow waters teem with marine life, making it an accessible underwater adventure for all ages. The presence of nearby cafes adds to the experience, providing a comfortable place to rest and enjoy the scenery. However, it's important to note that the beach can feel commercialized with numerous paid chairs and umbrellas, which some visitors find detracts from its natural charm.
Despite some criticisms about overcrowding and commercialization, Richard's Head Beach remains a beloved spot for its unparalleled views and vibrant underwater world. It offers a perfect opportunity to combine sightseeing with a refreshing dip in the Adriatic Sea, all within steps of a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Navigating the Pebbles and Crowds
Crowd management is another key consideration. During peak season, the beach can become very busy, with limited space for personal belongings. To truly appreciate the tranquility and beauty of the beach, visiting during the shoulder seasons, early mornings, or late afternoons is highly advised. This allows for a more relaxed experience and better photo opportunities without the throngs of tourists.
While the beach itself is public, some areas are occupied by private establishments offering chairs and umbrellas for rent. This can sometimes lead to confusion or a feeling of exclusivity, as noted by some visitors. Being aware of these arrangements beforehand can help manage expectations and ensure a smoother visit.
