What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Kolašin 1600 ski resort offers stunning mountain vistas and challenging ski slopes, often at a more affordable price point than Western European counterparts. Visitors praise the beautiful scenery, especially for hiking, and the quality of food at the on-site restaurant. However, potential visitors should be aware of inconsistent resort operations, including unpredictable opening dates, and sometimes challenging parking conditions.
"We had a fantastic hike at the top of the ski lift.
Firstly the car park was free when we visited which was good. The ski lift is well organised and cost €8 each return which was good value.
Once at the top we turned left and walked past the barriers and followed the trails towards the views of Lake Pesica. Absolutely beautiful. We then followed the path down to the lake where we had a spot of lunch (pack up) and enjoyed the rest before going back up to where we started. We also stopped off a little hut in the way out for fresh wild blueberries and on the way back for a cold beer and to take in the last views.
There appears to be back many trails once up this mountain. And the views are so spectacular. Loved it and was one of our most enjoyable walks in Montenegro."

"Skier's paradise! Kolašin 1600 offers impeccable slopes with perfect powder and challenging terrain that tested my technical skills. Fast lifts, knowledgeable staff, and breathtaking mountain vistas. A world-class venue that deserves recognition on the international circuit!"

"We arrived today for skiing but the resort was closed. No information on the internet about this. The latest available information for the resort was that it was open.
The parking lot is still in a really bad shape, full of mud and ice, but at least there is parking. We tried to go to the 1450 ski resort, where there is absolutely no parking at all. It was also closed or at least the responsible guy for the lift was still still discussing if he wanted to open or not, as the snow situation was very poor.
Just so you know, even if it says on the internet page of the 1600 resort that the tickets are valid for both the 1600 and the 1450, this is not the case. You have to choose where to ski, both is not possible, at least not this year. You really wonder how they will be able to attract foreign tourists if the organization stays like this."

However, visitors should be aware that the resort's opening is heavily dependent on snow conditions. There have been instances where the resort was closed for weeks before mid-February due to insufficient snow, leading to disappointment for those who arrived expecting it to be open. This unpredictability means it's crucial to check the latest status before planning your trip.
Despite potential snow-related closures, when operational, Kolašin 1600 provides an excellent skiing experience. The affordability compared to other European destinations makes it an attractive option for budget-conscious skiers looking for quality slopes and stunning mountain scenery.
Summer Adventures: Hiking and Biking
From the top, visitors can embark on numerous trails. A popular route involves hiking past barriers and following paths towards the breathtaking views of Lake Pešić. This hike offers a chance to enjoy the natural beauty, have a picnic lunch by the lake, and experience the tranquility of the mountains. Some visitors also stop at small huts along the way for local treats like wild blueberries or a refreshing drink.
For those seeking more adventure, the mountain serves as a starting point for longer bike rides, such as continuing to Katun Vulića under the mountains. The accessibility provided by the summer lift operation makes Kolašin 1600 a versatile destination, appealing to both outdoor enthusiasts and those simply looking for spectacular mountain scenery.
Navigating Resort Operations and Visitor Experience
Furthermore, there have been instances where the validity of tickets is unclear, with reports that tickets purchased for the 1600 resort are not interchangeable with the 1450 ski resort, contrary to what might be advertised. This lack of clarity can lead to confusion and frustration. The organization of the resort is questioned by some, who wonder how it will attract foreign tourists if these issues persist.
Despite these challenges, many visitors still have a fantastic experience, particularly when the resort is open and the snow conditions are good. The affordability of the resort compared to Western European counterparts is a major draw. The on-site restaurant is also a highlight, praised for its delicious food and lack of queues.
