What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Marrakech Railway Station is a modern and architecturally impressive facility, praised for its clean interior and efficient train departures. However, visitors often encounter issues with long ticket queues, limited seating, and occasional cleanliness concerns in restrooms. While functional, the station can feel chaotic during peak times.
"A good functional station, a few stores, cafes, McD and KFC and is a clean station. Good architecture from outside and modern inside.
Train to Fes departed on time, ticket QR code was scanned and the journey itself was comfortable on the first class. Limited storage space on the train and the toilet cleaning could be better."

"Absolute chaos.
One member of staff selling tickets resulting in a queue 4 deep snaking almost to the door.
The train we wanted was sold out but there was no signage telling us that. We tried the 2 ticket machines - hidden behind a pillar - one had seizure and gave up, the other did work and it was at that point we found out there were no tickets available.
Imagine queuing for an hour only to be told, computer says no. Took an Uber instead which turned out to be cheaper than the train."
Dame Hyndman
"I used it to Casablanca, it’s so great 👏 fast and affordable price and clean professional staff and great customer service too, no AC in the 2nd class I don’t know about the rest, I used it in early morning I don’t know how is the weather in the middle of the day"

Moroccan Train Travel: A Reliable Network
When traveling between Marrakech and Casablanca, trains are frequent, often running hourly. While second class can get hot, especially in summer, opting for first class is recommended for added comfort. Booking tickets online through the ONCF website is the most convenient method, though tickets can also be purchased at the station.
It's worth noting that the train network doesn't extend to all destinations. For example, cities like Essaouira or Agadir require bus travel. Despite this, the train system remains an excellent and affordable public transport option for navigating much of Morocco.
Navigating Taxis and Local Transport
Local buses are a very budget-friendly alternative, with routes like L15 and L14 connecting the Medina to the train station. While bus schedules might not always be precise, they follow set routes and are a reliable way to travel cheaply. Some travelers also found tuk-tuks to be a fun and cost-effective option for shorter distances within the city.
For longer distances or day trips, consider booking through reputable platforms or local tour operators. While the train is excellent for inter-city travel, exploring within Marrakech often involves a mix of walking, taxis, and local buses.
