Reviews Summary

Visitors find the Haim Pinto Synagogue a beautiful and historically significant site, offering a glimpse into Rabbi Haim Pinto's life and the Jewish heritage of Essaouira. While small and a quick visit, its preserved state and the kindness of the caretaker make it a memorable stop. Some note that it can be closed unexpectedly.

"Beautiful and tiny. The downstairs is where the rabbi lived. The upstairs was the synagogue. They still use the temple if someone requests and they will get a minyan if needed. The lady who is there was great and super nice. If you come to Essaouria it’s a must see, but it’s a quick in and out type of place - 10 min."

"One of 3 synagogues that survived from old times of Jewish present in city of Essaouira. House of synagogue (upper floor) was also a home of famous Rabbi Chaim Pinto - lower floors, his office.
Synagogue is fully renovated, including wooden beam roof, painted blue.
We got some explanation about the place and Jewish life, guard knows even a bit Hebrew, and when we finished our visit he offered us to open for us the old Jewish cemetery, which is not always open, so it was very convenient to see both main places of Jewish history of Essaouira"
