Currency Exchange & Cash is King

Moroccan Dirham is a closed currency. Avoid exchanging money in France or at the airport for better rates. Withdraw cash from ATMs in Morocco or exchange at reputable places in the Medina. Many places prefer cash, so always have some on hand. TikTokReddit+2

Navigating Taxis & Getting Around

While walking is best in the Medina, taxis are available. Apps like InDrive exist, but cash payment is common. Always agree on a price beforehand or ensure the meter is used. Some recommend airport bus for a cheaper alternative to taxis. TikTokReddit+1

Place des Ferblantiers is a cute colourful square in the heart of Marrakesh with some great rooftop bars - perfect for a cheeky lunchtime vino 🍷 We stopped @kosybar.marrakech for a chilled rose after visiting Palace El Badi next door. Reviews Summary

Place des Ferblantiers is a charming, traditional square in Marrakech's Mellah, offering a calmer alternative to the bustling Jemaa el-Fna. Visitors appreciate the artisan shops selling handcrafted metalwork and the pleasant atmosphere of its cafes and restaurants, especially those with rooftop terraces. It's a great spot to experience local craftsmanship and enjoy a relaxed break. Instagram+1

"Place des Ferblantiers, also known in Arabic as Sahat Al-Qazzadriya, is one of the charming traditional squares in the old medina of Marrakech. Located near the Bahia Palace and El Badi Palace, it is known for its relatively calm atmosphere compared to the bustling Jemaa el-Fnaa square. The square is home to many artisan shops where craftsmen sell handmade items made from copper, zinc, and other metals, including traditional lanterns, decorative mirrors, and handcrafted utensils.
It is an ideal spot to experience Moroccan craftsmanship up close and meet local artisans who have inherited their skills through generations. The area also features small cafés and restaurants, offering visitors a chance to relax and observe daily life in the heart of old Marrakech. Place des Ferblantiers is a perfect starting point for exploring nearby landmarks such as the Bahia and El Badi palaces and their enchanting gardens."

"This place is locally known as 'Malah'
It is very close to Bahia Palace and is a good landmark if you want to get picked up for your day tours or to tell your taxi.
Loads of little food places.
We went to eat at a place(restaurant) in this square called "Malah". Extremely great food and very reasonably priced.
So make sure you go for food where you see plenty of people already enjoying their meals.
It has many souvenir shops and alongside Spice souk.
The evening here is even better with much lesser chaos than Jama El Fena. Kids play around here but unfortunately they come to you to ask for money so ignore them.
Overall great location in Marakkech"

Aniik Gupta

"A nice square that is a bit quieter than the main Medina, some nice shops and the spice market. Eating is not such good value here."
