Reviews Summary

Visitors find the Tamegroute Quranic Library to be an amazing and culturally significant site, with knowledgeable guides offering deep insights. While photography is prohibited, the ancient texts are a major draw. The adjacent pottery and village life also contribute to a rich, authentic experience, though prices for souvenirs can be on the higher side.

"The library is absolutely amazing. The guide is a teacher at the school and very knowledgeable. Some books are so advanced and ancient that he also cannot read them--there is no need to decipher, just to admire. It's definitely worth a visit if you have an appreciation for culture, history, and education. No pictures allowed but it is understandable, because even specialized researchers need a permit to take pictures.

The pottery next door was just ok, nothing spectacular. The prices are on the high end (small coffee mugs for the same price as an average one in a western European country), but it's fine to buy as an act of support towards the local community here."

"Lovely old books, small donation, can’t take photos."

Christopher Borges

"The last "town" of 4,000 people before the desert, offering very interesting insights into an authentic local culture. The library was unfortunately closed (closed on Saturdays and Sundays), but I was able to visit the sound production facility, which was very impressive! Prices are comparable to European standards, but if you want to support the local economy, you certainly can't go wrong by purchasing at least a small souvenir."
