However, the strict security measures, including the prohibition of phones and bags, are a common point of contention. "This is a nice place to visit for gemstone lovers. The exterior and interior building is old. There are a total 4 floors, only the top floor is the gem museum. The rest of the 3 floors are shops that sells the gems. This is a government operated museum. There is an entrance fee of 5usd for foreign to enter the gem museum at level 4. No phones & bags are allowed in the museum. They will provide you with a locker. There are local guide inside to explain to you the different gemstones. It is safer to buy gemstones from here if you have doubt about those shops in Bogyoke Aung San Market. However, the price here are slightly more expensive compared to those in Bogyoke market."
