#Katutura is a former #apartheid -era village, dating back to the days when #Namibia was governed by #South Africa. The #Soweto street market is a hive of activity. The charcoal grills sit at the perimeter of the market, away from the canopy. Whisps of smoke curl through Katutura, luring all in their path with that signature scent of grilled meat. This is kapana, the famous #Namibian street #barbe...

Reviews Summary

Soweto Market in Katutura is praised for its authentic local vibe, friendly people, and delicious kapana. Visitors find it clean and safe, offering a genuine glimpse into Namibian suburban life. Some note that there isn't a vast array of goods, but the cultural experience and community feel are highly valued.

"Good place for tourists to experience the suburbs. Nevertheless little tourists there (the four times i went i was the only one). Feels really safe. Can get a bit overwhelming when everyone tries to sell you their kapana and afterwards convinces you to eat papa and salsa at their place but worked out every time. They also have cold drinks like coke. And fat cakes of course
On the weekdays definitly busier than weekends or public holidays
Also shops to repair clothing or buy purses there. Can recommend!"
