"Nestled atop a hill in Bhaktapur, the Changu Narayan Temple is a serene and spiritually enriching place that offers a deep dive into Nepal’s ancient history and art. As one of the oldest Hindu temples in the Kathmandu Valley, it’s not just a religious site but also a historical treasure.
The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and showcases exquisite wood and stone carvings that date back to the Licchavi period. Every detail in the architecture feels like a journey through centuries of craftsmanship and devotion. The peaceful surroundings, with views of the valley and charming village atmosphere, make the visit even more memorable.
Though it’s less crowded than other major sites, that’s actually part of its charm. You get to take your time, admire the beauty, and reflect without feeling rushed. The small museum nearby also adds to the experience, giving context to the temple’s heritage.
Highly recommended for those who appreciate history, culture, and quiet spirituality. It’s a hidden gem that deserves more attention"

"Changunarayan Temple remains well-preserved, especially considering it’s the oldest in the country. However, aside from the main temple, many surrounding structures are beginning to deteriorate, which is disheartening to witness. The toilets within the temple grounds are clean and free to use, but the area below, near the pine forest, is heavily polluted. Overall, it’s a short and pleasant trek that deserves greater recognition and more proactive involvement from the local government."
