Reviews Summary

The Museum of Nepali Art (MoNA) is a small but highly regarded gallery in Thamel, praised for its beautiful and detailed artworks, particularly those depicting Hindu and Buddhist themes. Visitors appreciate the QR codes for in-depth information and the option to purchase unique art prints. However, some find the 500 NPR entrance fee steep for the gallery's compact size, and a few have noted less-than-ideal customer service.

"A small but impressive museum that’s well worth a visit while you’re in the city.
The entrance fee is 500 NPR, and it’s absolutely justified by the quality of the exhibition. The collection highlights key characters from Hinduism, presented through various artistic styles. Clear descriptions help you better understand the symbolism and context behind each piece. Some of the artworks are incredibly detailed and captivating.

Right behind the museum, there’s a cozy tea house and restaurant — a perfect spot to take a break and grab a bite in a peaceful atmosphere."

Sergey Кulik

"This is literally a one-room gallery with a handful of paintings and sculptures, and no way justifies the price of 500rp per person. To call it a "museum" is just deceptive. The room can be viewed in 15 minutes. To add insult to injury, the lady at the counter has an attitude that borders on rude with clearly zero interest to be there. The single star here is really only to recognise the effort to curate these artworks and the artwork itself, but I do not recommend visiting - it's a rip-off and waste of time."

Lynn Tan

"Absolutely beautiful. The space is relatively compact, you would finish seeing the works less than 30-40mins.
I loved that I was able to encounter beautiful artworks here. I felt a very strong connection with the artworks of a certain artist, and I knew I had to get the prints. I am so happy that I was able to get the opportunity."
