"Kaura dance is the main original dance of the Magar community. It is believed that the origin of Kaura is from the word 'Kan-Raha' of the Magar language. 'Kan-raha' means 'we have come'. While going to have fun in Rodidhar, uncle says 'Kan-raha' to his niece, meaning 'we have come' . Kaura is a popular dance not only among the Magars but also among the Gurung, Dura, Darai etc. communities living in the Gandaki region. Kaura dance is performed by men playing khaizri and unmarried girls wearing jharra."
