Reviews Summary

Bat Cave offers a unique underground adventure with thousands of bats and a thrilling, narrow exit crawl. While many find it exciting and memorable, some visitors have expressed disappointment with overcrowding, noise disturbing the bats, and issues with guide fees. It's an experience not for the claustrophobic or those seeking a pristine environment.

"Oh man this is definately one of those fun bat cave as I've been to several bat caves in other countries… we hired a guide and he walked us through this cave! inside it's very dark and the way is very unclear and you have to climb up and down like spelunking… and the exit of the cave is super small!

I paid 500₹ tips for the guide and he seems unhappy and wanted more… this is the only negative part"

"Disappointing visit. Cave was very busy and noisy with people shouting and waving their torches to get the bats to fly. I stopped one guy throwing stones at the poor creatures - what goes through some people’s minds?

Maybe around 80 bats in total, over time if it continues like today the bats will find other places to roost.

Had to exit through the entrance as the small exit hole was blocked with people struggling to climb through.

Overall not worth the trouble."

"Bat Cave, Pokhara – A Unique Underground Adventure

The Bat Cave in Pokhara is a thrilling and unique experience. As soon as you enter, they provide a small battery-operated torch – and you’ll need it! Inside, it’s pitch dark, and the only sounds are the fluttering of bats and the echo of dripping water.

The falling water droplets feel like a natural shower from the heavens, adding to the mystical vibe. It's both eerie and exciting, especially when you try to exit through the narrow rocky opening at the end. A must-visit if you enjoy nature with a touch of adventure!"

The Bat Cave, or Chamere Gufa, offers a unique underground adventure near Pokhara. Visitors enter through a relatively wide stone stairway, but the real thrill comes with the exit. The cave is approximately 150 meters long and is home to thousands of bats, primarily horseshoe and round-leaf species, hanging from its ceiling and walls. Natural stalactites and stalagmites add to the cave's mystique, and some sections even feature carvings of Hindu deities, hinting at its historical or spiritual significance. Reddit

Guides are highly recommended to navigate the dark and slippery passages safely. They provide a torch, but bringing your own powerful flashlight is a good idea for better visibility. Respecting the Wildlife and Environment

Bat Cave is a natural habitat for thousands of bats, and responsible tourism is crucial to their well-being. Visitors are urged to maintain a quiet environment inside the cave. Some reviews mention instances of visitors disturbing the bats, which is a significant concern for the conservation of this unique ecosystem. It's essential to follow your guide's instructions and refrain from any actions that could harm or frighten the animals. Remember, you are a guest in their home. Reddit
