Weird/unique/artistic venues or events in AMS?
I visit Amsterdam about every year and have done all the basic touristy stuff there. I am going back the first week of March and am wondering if there are any lesser known events or venues I should check out on this visit? Edit: Thanks for the tips ;)

Where do artists, musicians, composers, and similar weirdos hang out?
This used to be a big part of my life and it's been absent here. I've been here getting on for three years and I've met almost none. I see a potentially interesting crowd at music shows whom I am starting to recognize, but generally people come for the show, and leave. It…

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
De Nieuwe Anita is celebrated for its friendly, unpretentious atmosphere and vibrant live music scene, drawing comparisons to Berlin's artistic bars. While some find the music choices inconsistent or the venue can get warm without air conditioning, most visitors praise the great vibe, good beer selection, and the unique, welcoming community feel.
"What a lovely little cafe/theatre. Friendly staff, great atmosphere and the clientele had a great vibe. Went for the cabaret and stayed for the conversations. It’s not fancy, it’s friendly and fun. It serves food but we had already eaten - it looked good though!"

"So, we went there for Halloween kids costume ball. Nice place, friendly people. Absolutely awful music choice. Seriously, I need this level of dj's self esteem. That were a lot of kids. Staying still, as they just can't dance with that music choice. Oh, no the 2 years old of our friends was quite enjoying, need to say.
Waisted time, money a spoiled mood unfortunately. Will come back, but definitely not for kids party."

"Great little music venue. Not posh but definitely fun. The group we heard played Rockabilly. The place was crowded with people having a great time listening, dancing and singing along. The only negative (and it's a small one) is the lack of air-conditioning. It was definitely hot but most people didn't seem to mind. We all had a great time. I highly recommend De Nieuwe Anita and would definitely go back."
