"Today, Wednesday, I visited the impressive memorial center for the Jewish psychiatric institution "Het Apeldoornse Bosch." The stories of some of the people who lived and worked there, such as that of the talented illustrator Arent Gans, give a voice to this wartime tragedy.
During the night of January 21st to 22nd, over a thousand residents and staff members were arrested by the Nazis and transported to Auschwitz-Birkenau. None of them returned.
