"The Nieuwe Haven is a source of activity. Tour boats sail from the harbour along the Spanjaardsgat over the canals and activities are organised such as music festivals. The harbour has been made accessible for recreational boating by raising the so-called Trambrug and constructing a passenger harbour.
The harbour of Breda is located in the city centre of Breda. It is situated at the Spanjaardsgat, not far from the Havermarkt, Vismarktstraat and the Grote Kerk. The harbour was originally part of the river Mark, to which Breda owes its origin. Between 1965 and 2007 the harbour was filled in. Since 2007 it has had a low quay where boats can moor, with catering facilities with terraces above it. In addition, tour boats sail from the harbour along the Spanjaardsgat over the
Singels.
For centuries Breda was a transit port for sea and river fish to Belgium. In 1965 the harbour was filled in due to water quality problems. After a major intervention, water once again adorns the streetscape and there is a good basis for water recreation."
