He is the builder of the current Philips concern.
In the 1930s he initiated the development of Philips into a multinational.
At the age of 20, he joined the light bulb factory that his father and brother Gerard had set up in Eindhoven.
Anton was able to work there as a salesman.
The light bulb was recently discovered and the number of users was limited.
The young company mainly had to compete with large German companies such as AEG and Siemens.
Anton started traveling in the Netherlands, Belgium and western Germany and managed to win many orders for the factory, which was partly responsible for growing rapidly.
Due to his decisive action, he managed to expand the company into a business, he was therefore a very tough negotiator.
With strength and dedication from his whole person, he has made the company over which he has held sway since 1915 great.
In World War I, he took advantage of the boycott of German products in countries such as Russia, France and the United Kingdom.
During World War II, Anton Philips fled to the United States,
while his son Frits then managed and took over the company from Eindhoven
