It’s not that non-nerds don’t love Biblical archaeology… It’s that they don’t want to look at it for hours.😂 This museum is incredible- The Institute for the Study of Ancient Cultures Museum- and is worth a visit if you are a nerd or a non-nerd. Maybe pick a meeting spot like my family and I do when you go to these types of museums. I am so grateful that the word of God is steadfast and true! •...

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Archaeology Museum Haarlem for its free admission and fascinating local artifacts, all housed in a unique cellar setting. While exhibits are in Dutch, helpful volunteers and printouts make the history accessible. It's a small but worthwhile stop, especially for families with its engaging kids' activity.

"Great, by the way, discovery while in the Grote Markt. It's one of those well-displayed and interesting places that you don't expect much from, then discover it was well worth it. Be mindful, it's Dutch history, specifically Haarlem, and as such, everything is in Dutch. They do have volunteers who are available to help put things in perspective with English, and they do have printouts that can tell you what you're seeing (make sure to return them). It won't take long to see everything, it's pretty much contained in a really cool one-room cellar. I recommend you take the time to see this 'off the popular path' display."

Frankie Graham

"A small museum located in the Grote Markt (central square of Haarlem). The entrance is free and they have very interesting artefacts found in Haarlem, several of them dating to many centuries ago. The people working there were also very sweet!"
