I took the train from Leiden to Haarlem six times in one day,
to photograph the Dutch tulips, through the frame on my way. 🌷🚂

VACATION TIPS . One more museum for those who live in Haarlem or nearby - NZH Transport museum. Here you can spot various vintage buses and trams 🚃 you can even look at most of them inside. Kids were happy! And I’ve never seen a beach bus in my life. It turned out that such buses were moving from Haarlem to Zandvoort 🏖️ 50-60 years ago. Buses had a bar counter and back of it didn’t have a roof🙈 ...

Reviews Summary

A niche museum that delights transport enthusiasts and families alike with its collection of vintage trams and buses. Visitors praise the friendly and knowledgeable staff, the ability to explore vehicles from the inside, and the fascinating restoration work. While its limited opening hours require careful planning, it's considered a well-maintained local gem.

"A specialized museum that’s not for everyone, but it was for me! The old NZH trams and busses hark back to a time when there was a tram from Amsterdam Spui to Zandvoort. Yes, up the Spuistraat! (Crossing the GVB trams 1 and 2 that ran down the NZ Voorburgwal).

But Spuistraat is too narrow for two tracks of tram tracks I explained. Hans (pictured) assured me I was wrong.

This museum is open for four hours on Saturdays and it is staffed by old tram and bus driver volunteers who get to chat with each other and talk to you as much as you want to listen.

How about the tram that went from IJplein north to Noord Holland (the ferry picked you up at what is today Lute’s terrace at Stationplein?

If this means anything to you, head to Haarlem Spaarnwoude station (on the way to Haarlem) and start your 20 minute walk! Bus 15 does not run on Saturdays."
