The port area is worth visiting at any time, even in bad weather. Fortunately for me, I arrived on a beautiful day, which made the walk even more pleasant.
My visit was quite short, so I didn't get to see everything worth visiting in the area and missed some important tourist attractions. However, here is a short list of things that are worth seeing:
The pier, full of boats of all shapes and sizes
The countless bars and restaurants on the shore, offering reasonable prices and good food
The old defense towers of the medieval city, especially the "Hoofdtoren Hoorn"
The numerous canals, locks, and bridges, an additional proof that the Dutch truly are people of the sea
The statuary group "De Scheepsjongens Van Bontekoe"
Juliana Park, which starts next to the port and extends almost to the city center, where you can admire some of the fortified gates and bastions that were part of the city's defensive structure
