What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Wadden Center for its excellent facilities and crucial role in seal rehabilitation, highlighting the qualified staff and the educational value of observing animal care. While some miss older facilities, the current center is seen as a significant upgrade focused on animal welfare. The location near the Schiermonnikoog ferry is a major plus.
"The place is beautiful and has excellent facilities. It is one of the best seal hospitals in the world. The staff is highly qualified and you can see how the seals are being restrained, fed and other procedures are being carried out, always prioritizing the animal welfare. The visit is well worth it for those who want to learn about seals."

"Let me start with that I do miss the old facility's charm or call it nostalgia on my part, but the big outdoor pool was my favourite.
That said, I do understand the need to upgrade and have a better location.
On the educational side I think there is room for improvement, but it is also clear to me that it is still a work in progress, will update over the upcoming visits. The building is nice and the hospital facilities seem great.
But most importantly, the seals seem to be comfortable, for being in the hospital / care that is.
It is very possible that I am biased as a sponsor to this place, but the staff was nice and surely it is worth your visit, especially if you go to Schiermonnikoog, since it is right next to the ferry's port."

"It’s definitely nice to see the seals and got more information during the feeding time. As a foreigner, some of the interviews are Dutch only. The restaurant menu is also Dutch only. The staff are very helpful."
