What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors often praise the Stadhuis for its stunning architecture and historical significance, with many highlighting impressive staircases and facades. The courtyards are frequently mentioned as peaceful retreats. However, some administrative experiences can be bureaucratic, with one user detailing months of issues with BSN number registration in Leeuwarden.
"Beware! If you are Dutch and want to register in this municipality, make sure to check that they DO NOT give you a duplicate BSN number by mistake.
They did me like that and it took months to get it sorted out. In the meantime, all my original documents (passport, driver's licence and Digid) were declared invalid while my duplicate "new" BSN didn't work either. I couldn't leave the country, apply for rental allowance, register in a different municipality, recieve my student loan etc.
Disgraceful. All because of a silly little mistake from the municipality of Leeuwarden. Long live Dutch bureaucracy!"

"First of all, you can do everything online on their page. But when you need, you can arrange a meeting. They are very helpful, patient and almost always smiling:)"
