What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Laurenskerk Rotterdam for its stunning Gothic architecture and its powerful symbolism as a post-WWII reconstruction. The tower climb offers spectacular city views, and the audio tour provides valuable historical context. Some find the ticket price a bit high for the interior alone, and the church bells can be disruptive at certain times.
"Despite not being Christian and not being particularly interested in churches at all, I liked walking through this church and thinking about time passing. Everything in here will make you feel small in a satisfying way: the red candles rising almost to the ceiling, the wide-openness of the room, the book you can flip through and see what the visitors before you had to say."

"A beautiful Gothic church that had once been the victim of WW2, having only left with it’s tower standing. The rest had to be built from scratch. Three iron stakes have been kept as a memory from the ruins and now being shown in shape of a cross, brilliant mind.
Besides all, I have one, which I believe to be major, note for the visitors. There are actually audio tour books (photo added) that you can borrow from reception. In my case, the lady at reception probably was just helping out her friends because when I asked about a audio tour, she said there ain’t any. After using my hilarious inspector skills, I found a booklet showing how to use the audio tour book and proved her that there must be. A minute later, I saw those black audio tour books standing on inner shelf of reception and got what I was looking for. You simply follow the tag numbers on wall and find the matching session in book. Alternatively you can listen to it, which I couldn’t beacuse you need a cable to connect audio tour with your headphone, so if you want to go for that option, you better bring your cable with you."

"A fine example of a gothic church, although much aside from the tower had to be restored/rebuilt after WWII. We did not go inside."
