Reviews Summary
Visitors praise De Brand Nature Reserve for its beautiful, rich natural landscapes, especially the scenic Zandleij waterways and the bird-filled marshy areas. However, many note that the reserve is frequently wet and marshy, making waterproof boots essential, and that trail markers can sometimes be missing.
"This afternoon I went on an IVN walk, which only uses junctions for the second section. The first section runs along the Zandleij, with beautiful transitions into the water and rock formations. The second section is very marshy; I thought the bird pond was the most beautiful part. You have to deviate from the route for this, but it's definitely worth it. Lots of geese in this section. Make sure you wear high shoes or boots. Definitely a tip; section 2, in particular, exceeded my expectations.
Update May 5, 2023: It's very wet along the line of junction 41; boots are absolutely essential here.
Update April 13, 2024: Very wet at the moment; it's best to wear boots throughout the entire area."

"Beautiful area. Lots of natural beauty. Barbed wire fence near the frogs. This is to protect the animals."

"Beautiful, rich nature reserve, perhaps even more beautiful than the nearby Drunense Dunes. It's wet and full of mosquitoes in the spring, though now, after many days of rain, it's still dry."
