It was destroyed and rebuilt multiple times and was lived in untill 2005. Now you can visit the castle on park which are beautiful, especially in a sunny day like this😍 #travel #netherlands #netherlandstravel #castle

Have you been to the magical Castle De Haar in Utrecht, Netherlands? If not, this is something you don’t want to miss! (Like we almost did) we arrived too late and all the tickets for the inside tours were sold out. I felt a bit sad until we started to walk around the castle gardens instead. And I mean wow, it was so much bigger than I thought 😍🍂🍁 You could easily spend the whole day here! . ...

Reviews Summary

De Haar Castle is widely praised for its stunning architecture and beautifully maintained grounds, offering a glimpse into noble life. Visitors appreciate the grandeur of the interiors and the expansive park, perfect for leisurely walks and picnics. Some note that the castle feels more like a 19th-century renovation than a true medieval structure, and the on-site café is considered pricey.

"Totally recommend De Haar castle if you are looking to experience a fairy tale castle with grounds . Its ironic we visited Disneyland at Marne le Valley and then this castle about 40 klic off Amsterdam . Trains are more pricey than uber so do your calc . From Amst eur 15.5 per head one way trains X 4 for my family and uber belatedly worked out to eur 50 . Castle entrance fee eur 20 and the shop is simply amazing for crockery and keepsakes . The castle was the chief residence of Baron Etienne and Baroness Helene Rothschild ( yes “The Rothschild Family” ) . Simply outstanding class and taste in furnishing . The rooms also reminded me of the opulence of Chateau de versailles . Each room has a colour scheme and the main hall is breathtaking. Didnt have much time to see gardens in detail but what we saw was magnificent .

Of the various castles near Amsterdam Muiderslot was closer , but glad we picked De Haar . Totally worth it . Highly recommend. Women will absolutely love the opulent decor and the furnishings and aesthetics ."

"What a magnificent castle. It is very well maintained inside, as well as the gardens. Moreover, the people who answer questions are very knowledgeable and passionate about what they do, which makes the visit enjoyable. I would, however, suggest visiting in the spring or summer, which makes exploring the gardens even more wonderful."

"Buy your tickets in advance. Really cool place to visit, but don't go expecting an authentic medieval castle, there's has ga lot of renovation and modernization that take away from that aspect, but overall this is still a really great exhibit. Still plenty of history within the walls, I just question the walls themselves. Great displays, lots of artifacts, plenty of rooms, the gardens are wonderful, even the restaurant is solid for a quick bite. Highly recommend bringing the family, plenty of nice places to take family photos in the gardens."
