Best place, if any, to see whales/dolphins/seals between Dunedin and Christchurch?
I know Kaikoura is the preeminent spot for whale/dolphin sighting, but we won’t have time to get there as Mt. Cook/Queenstown/Te Anau were a larger priority, and we won’t have time to get to be in the ocean on the west coast as a helicopter ride and glow worm cave are on the…

Akaroa
What a waste of a lovely town. Enjoyable drive with spectacular views, a beautiful location and you park up and.. there's absolutely nothing to do. Nothing to see. You can only sit and look at the water for so long. No decent places to eat. An absolutely terrible chip shop.…
Ethical/responsible wildlife tours
Hubby and I are doing a cruise in January. One stop is Akaroa and I'd love to see some dolphins. Problem is, I can't tell if the tour groups are ethical or not. I don't want to put my money towards anything that's bad for any animals. How do I know for sure? Specifically looking…

4 days in Christchurch/Akaroa, NZ
I am land in Christchurch on November 18th, and my friends arrive on the 22nd with a car which we will take across Arthur's Pass and down the west coast for about 10 days. What should I do between the 18th - 22nd? I was thinking of spending the first night in Christchurch, and…

The enthusiastic and knowledgeable crew, along with thoughtful touches like warm jackets and refreshments, make the trip highly enjoyable. The generous rebooking policy for unsuccessful dolphin sightings is a significant plus, ensuring visitor satisfaction.
"Where do I even start?! I cannot recommend a tour with these guys highly enough. Our first trip with Dave, Lucy, Elsa and Albie was unsuccessful for dolphins, but we still had an amazing trip, seeing seals and an Albatross! And I’d have still recommended the trip even though we didn’t see the dolphins. The warm jackets, drink and cookie were also a nice touch. However, we made the most of their free rebooking if you’re unlucky to see dolphins the next day. This second boat ride blew the first out the water! We had Dave and Lucy again, this time with Hannah and Buster and we were so lucky! So many dolphins and right up at the front of the boat. What an amazing experience. The staff are all so lovely and are all genuinely invested in you having a good trip, their enthusiasm for the wildlife is clear and infectious. A real gem in Akaroa."

"10/10 experience and only 1.20 hour drive from Christchurch! Dave, Lucy, Elsa (and Albie the dolphin spotting dog) were a fabulous crew ans looked after their guests thoroughly!! The scenery was incredible, the dolphins and fur seals are as beautiful as you think! I have and will recommend this tour again and again"

"Had such a great time! The crew were lovely. We got hot drinks and they took their time to chat with us all. Seeing the dolphins up close was such a great experience! Even the views were worth it. Just beautiful. 100% recomend this trip."
