Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki for its stunning architecture, diverse and high-quality art collections, and the welcoming atmosphere for all ages. The free entry to the permanent collection is a major draw, offering immense value. Some visitors note that special exhibitions can be pricey, but many find them well worth the cost for the chance to see masterpieces up close.
"Recent visit was for the 'A Century of Modern Art' show, it is much more relaxing and enjoyable to visit on a weekday. The gallery isn't too big meaning you can see everything in one visit. There's a small gallery store with a great selection of goods and a nice cafe on the 2nd floor. It does get confusing to navigate and locate the old/heritage site of the building which contains the gallery's owed pieces.
Yearly memberships available, prices have gone up a lot for them. I bought a membership with guest pass, it cost over $150 I believe. In the past I recall it was $120 and it was cheaper before that too. But you have unlimited access to paid shows and membership gives you 10% off at gallery store and cafe."

"A great place to visit. This time round went to the 'A Century of Modern Art'. This was exhibition did cost.
Other areas are free for you to wonder. Highly recommend. The gift shop has great gifts. There is also a cafe available.
Pictures of the exhibition and other parts of the gallery."

"Went to go see the “A century of modern art” and it was amazing. Everything was set up well with each paintings given a description that fits perfectly. Though the layout was a little strange with the room connecting to both left and right rooms, giving it not much of a clear direction to go to next. Other part of the art gallery was great with the huge room being the best, especially the cats (tigers). Definitely should visit at least once especially with different exhibitions on all the time."
