Evening drinks last week at Blenheim Palace. The sun on the stone was so beautiful. Blenheim was built in the early 18th century and it has been the home of the dukes of Marlborough ever since. As well as continuing as a private home, Blenheim is a thriving museum and considered by many to be one of the greatest Baroque buildings in Britain.

Reviews Summary

Visitors find the Marlborough Museum Blenheim to be a nice, small museum with decent displays on local history, particularly its wine heritage and Maori culture. The mocked-up old town street is a hit with kids, and the affordable entry makes it accessible. Some feel the collection could be more extensive, with key relics housed elsewhere, but the friendly staff and accessible nature are consistently praised.

"Has a reasonable display on wine but is half an advert for each of the wineries that donated each display or money. The area outside is a mocked up old town street, but has seen better days, kids found all the old stuff interesting though. There is a mini train and tourism boating lake. There are also lots of clubs based there, like the rock and mineral club amongst others."

Giles Sharman

"Nice small museum, a decent display of local pieces, quite well done
With the added small town built nearby, also showing period items,
There is a small gauge railway that operates, however we didn't use this as it didn't fit in with our timetable."

Anthony Beckett
