What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Signal Hill for its absolutely breathtaking panoramic views of the city and the Atlantic Ocean, especially during sunrise and sunset. The historical significance of Cabot Tower and the charm of The Battery neighborhood are also frequently highlighted. However, some note the narrow and steep drive up, the lack of facilities like restrooms, and the potential for windy conditions.
"Amazing views especially when the sky is clear.
Came here during sunset and it was beautiful, seeing the sky change into different hues as the sun set. Overall splendid! I do feel it will be better if you came here during sunrise as the hill is east facing.
Just to take note,
Narrow drive up to the lookout"

"Great place check out the city.
Also found a teenage blackbird bath in a dirty water hole. Brave bird wasn’t afraid of me at all but it didn’t know bathing in dirty water won’t get itself clean"

"This lookout point provides an amazing panoramic view of the Dunedin city. There is also an interesting memorial at this place with some sculptures depicting the local culture. Given the height this place gets a little windy and chilly. A binoculars would provide a good view. The views are stunning both during the day as well as at night time. It’s quite a steep drive up here and the road is extremely narrow and with a high gradient, hence ample care needs to be taken while driving to and from this place. Also cyclists come up to this point and ride back, and a keen eye needs to be kept out for them. There is no marked parking, so follow the cue of other parked cars. There are no restrooms at this place nor any shop/vending machines here."
