"Fantastic hut with great views. 2-2.5 hour walk to the hut with a easy / moderate climb for the first 3km. 1.5 hour return or can take the more scenic route via the 'bus stop' track 2.5-3 hours. Good swimming hole with a large swing bridge. Great first overnight tramp or to take kids."

"Not a bad hut situated in the mountains. Definitely a loop track that can be done in a day but recommend staying the night. Plenty of fire wood to keep you warm at night. Doesn't appear ranger or warden has been there in a while. Leaking taps meant no water so had to collect water from stream as well as no toilet paper or cleaning stations."
Wayne Smith
"Beautiful spot. Starts with a nice walk slowly up through the beech tree forest and eventually you come out above the trees and get the spectacular views around the valleys. Only really hard if your pack is super heavy. Kids as young as 5 can walk up the track without issue. The hut accommodation is great, tidy with a warm log fire and a stream nearby. If hut is fully occupied don't expect much sleep sharing the 2 rooms with so many in a small space but to be expected when tramping."
