What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Shine Falls is a breathtaking 58-meter waterfall offering a rewarding hike through native bush, with a beautiful pool perfect for swimming. While the initial track is generally easy, recent storm damage has made some sections more challenging, requiring careful navigation and potentially bouldering to reach the base. Despite these challenges, visitors find the falls and the opportunity for a refreshing dip well worth the effort.
"Fairly easy and quick hike with a few washouts on the way, but possible to walk around them, there are clear paths made by other walkers.
However, once you reach the stream, then bouldering on slippery rocks or crossing through the stream barefoot is needed to reach the waterfall.
I would say definitely worth it if you are willing to do the bouldering/stream crossing to get to the waterfall, but if not, then this hike is not worth it, the view from afar is not very impressive."

"The water is absolutely stunning and super safe for walking around. It’s nice and shallow, making it perfect for a refreshing summer swim! 🤩
Getting there is a breeze, so no worries about tough hikes or anything. If you’re looking for a fun spot to chill this summer, I definitely recommend checking it out!"

"Really nice walk despite the hike being closed
Almost 2 years since the Storm Gabrielle hit and the path is still.jn pretty bad shape.
My sister and I did the walk in the rain which added to the atmosphere.
The first 30 min of the walk is fine. Pretty clear, just be careful of your step.
You then hit, narrow pathway, and spots where you need to use your hand, ground can be slippery. We made it to the river bank but didn't go all the way to the pool. If you dont mind boulder climbing I'm sure it's doable.
Narrow pathways, and vines can make it tough to walk. Ducking and some for of light crawling required.
The storm really did a number on the infrastructure and the man made pathway have in part completely collapsed.
Overall if you're fit and used to challenging hikes I would recommend. Otherwise enjoy the first 20min with the sheep and the jungle and head back."
