"A Must-Do Detour in Waitomo AND its Free!
I recently visited Marokopa Falls and was absolutely blown away. The drive there from Waitomo Caves was incredibly scenic, with winding roads through a beautiful, lush forest. (Make sure you top up that gas before you get to this area).
The walk is short and easy 10-minute stroll on a well-maintained gravel path. It's suitable for most people and you can hear the roar of the water long before you see it.
The 35-meter-high waterfall is something you have to see for yourself! The viewing platform offers a reasonable viewpoint. however if you trek down to the glory of the falls the cool mist from the falls is a chilling treat.
It's a fantastic spot for photography, and I managed to get some amazing shots and videos. I recommend wearing rugged footwear, as the path can be a bit muddy after rain and especially if you want to leg it down to touch the falls.
There's around 12 parks on the roadside available.
A beautiful, free natural attraction that is well worth the visit!"
