"Absolutely gorgeous spot to visit. The scenery is beautiful and the memorial is amazing! I didn't realize how big it would be. The only issue was that the sign on the memorial needs a bit of a clean as was hard to read. But I highly reccomend stopping in here to visit! Especially if you wanna know about some New Zealand History"

"Gorgeous spot to visit.
Beautiful views."

"Brilliant, a bit of a sad tribute to our appreciation of early pioneers in many ways, it was kinda run down and needs TLC but I guess it's donation dependant, at the time he first flew he was breaking barriers. The kids were in awe that something like that actually flew, definitely a nice place to have some quiet contemplation before we step into the latest airbus (when the boarders open)"

Around March 31, 1903, he successfully flew a self-built monoplane for approximately 140 meters before crashing into a gorse bush. This event predates or is contemporary with other early aviation milestones, sparking debate about the exact timeline and Pearse's control over his aircraft. His ingenuity and determination in creating a flying machine from basic materials highlight the spirit of innovation in early 20th-century New Zealand. Reddit

The exact date and control maintained during Pearse's flight have been subjects of much discussion and historical debate.
