"Himakana Hike – June 2025
Group: Corporate retreat, 8 adults
Previous visit : June 2023, family 2+2 ( kids ages 3&5)
🌄 Experience Summary
We returned to Himakana in June 2025 after our first visit in June 2023 with our family (kids ages 3 & 5). This hike is an ideal “mini Trolltunga” — perfect for families with small children or as a filler hike for adults wanting a rewarding outing without committing to the full Trolltunga climb. The trail climbs steadily almost all the way, but the effort is worth it: the views are stunning throughout the route, not just at the final destination. With our group of eight adults, everyone could enjoy a moderate challenge while taking in Norway’s dramatic landscapes. The combination of greenery, fjord glimpses, and rock formations made the walk visually engaging from start to finish.
⭐ Highlights & Recommendations
• Mini Trolltunga vibe — achievable for families or as a significantly shorter option for adult hikers.
• Excellent photo opportunities along the route; the final viewpoint provides a perfect sense of accomplishment.
📝 Tips for Visitors
• Wear sturdy hiking shoes; the path is well-marked but includes mainly slippery gravel.
• Bring water and snacks for the hike.
• Plan for roughly 2–3 hours round trip for a moderate pace with short stops. With kids add 1-1,5h.
• Parking is at the nearby supermarket lot — convenient and you can pay by card.
• Layer clothing: the weather can shift quickly.
⚠️ Constructive Feedback / Observations
• Uphill sections are constant — not strenuous for experienced adults but may be tiring for very young kids or anyone with mobility issues.
• No major hazards along the route, but keep an eye on children at the final destination rock formations."

"Easily accessible good viewpoint and “instagramable” photo place. After fixing the assess trail into gravel road it turned into very UNpleasant hike for ankles and knees so beware."

"Unlike other comments, we were surprised by the ease of this hike ! It's a one-hour walk with 2/3 slightly steep climbs but doable. Even in the snow ! (February 18)
