What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Nitelva River for its extraordinary scenery and peaceful rafting experience, particularly on the calmer downstream stretches. The river's role in defining the local landscape is also appreciated. Some find the riverside walks cozy, though occasional unpleasant smells are noted.
"Nitelva rafting from Rotnes to Lillestrøm, water was calm and peaceful, extraordinary scenery of both river banks! You can enjoy the trip and relax almost all the trip!"
John Chang
"Nitelva, or Hakadalselva as it is called further north, starts its journey at the end of the Harvestuvannet. After a few days of traveling through forest and agricultural landscapes, settlements and towns, the river water mixes with the waters in Øyeren. The river has then traveled a distance of 37 km and had a fall of 130 meters. Nitelva's journey to Øyeren begins with rushing rapids and ends in a wide, calm river through Skedsmo and Rælingen. About 5 km before the island it runs alongside Leira. The river gives identity and character to Nittedal's landscape as it flows through. The valley was named after the river. They said in Old Norse. Nitja hot river and it came from Nitjusjor (also called Lake Nittes, now the Harvestuvannet). Perhaps the name has old Norwegian net, fish nets. But it can also be related to the verb nita, to collide. The name should then aim for "power that is not wild and gushing, but where the water peaks during a steadily fast run." When you drive through the village you can always see a glimpse of the river, and in some places the road goes completely on the river bank. The dam across the Rotnesfossen cliff until the national highway 4 is the municipality's most visible memorial, and Nittedal's best preserved industrial memory."

"I could have written a lot here, but I prefer not to
Funnily enough, there are many different species of fish here, and that is probably one of the reasons why the NM in fishing is organized. I hardly think it is recommended to eat the fish here"
