It's actually very awesome. You can walk up right on top and it has a great view of the city. In my opinion the best spot to kiss someone after a date, did it twice
Dress code for Operaen?
Edit: answered, thanks all!! I bought a ticket for the opera Carmen, but don't have anything more formal then a dress shirt on jeans. I'm only in Oslo temporarily. Should I worry about being refused entrance? It's there a dress code at all?

Opera House and Royal Palace question
If you can't make it for the guided tour, can you go inside and explore on your own on a Monday morning? The same goes for the Royal Palace. Thanks!

"The Oslo Opera House is truly a masterpiece of modern architecture and one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. The design of the building is breathtaking — with its white marble and glass façade, it looks like it rises straight out of the Oslo Fjord. The sloping roof is unique and inviting, allowing visitors to walk all the way up and enjoy stunning views of the city and the water.
Inside, the Opera House is just as impressive. The spacious, light-filled interiors combine elegance with functionality, creating the perfect atmosphere for cultural performances. The use of wood and natural materials adds warmth and harmony, beautifully contrasting with the sleek, modern exterior.
It’s not only a place for world-class opera and ballet, but also a public space where everyone can enjoy art, architecture, and the city’s waterfront. The Oslo Opera House is a perfect example of how design can blend beauty, culture, and accessibility.
A must-see when visiting Oslo — whether for a performance or simply to experience one of the most stunning architectural landmarks in Scandinavia."

"It certainly is one of the most beautiful as well as functional public buildings in any capital city. The design of the Opera house to encourage people to walk along around and on top of them is somewhat of an architectural genius, particularly with it being right on the waterfront. The building certainly seems to have become a tourist and local favourite since its construction within the last decade from memory."
