Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Tirpitz Anchorage Memorial a somber yet essential stop for WWII history enthusiasts. The site effectively conveys the gravity of the events through its memorial stone, historical plaques, and visible bomb craters, offering a poignant reminder of lives lost. While there's little of the ship remaining, the historical context and peaceful setting make it a worthwhile and reflective experience.
"Sombre reminder of all those lives lost a generation ago. Well worth a visit. Roadside parking for about four vehicles and it is only a short distance to the memorial itself which is made from part of the remains of the vessel. A short distance further on are the outlines of a crater caused by one of the bombs hitting the shore."

"A memorial to the sinking of the German Tirpitz battleship sunk at this location in WW2. History plaques describe the bombing and sinking of the ship by British aircraft. Very little of the ships hull remains in the water"

"an eerie feeling spreads when you enter this memorial ... you stand in front of the memorial stone and see this wonderful and peaceful fjord in the background, think of how many people lost their lives here 80 years ago, look around and still recognize the bomb craters that have left the english bombers. A place of rest and remembrance."
