Reviews Summary

Wadi Bani Habib is praised for its unique beauty, offering a fascinating glimpse into Oman's past with its abandoned village and lush orchards. Visitors enjoy the scenic hike and photographic potential. However, some find the path unprepared, with safety concerns from debris and limited parking, especially during peak times.

"We certainly did not come prepared for this “easy” hike. The path is indeed easy but it is not paved at all. If you intend to venture up to the abandoned villages, the climb is steep and rocky, and there are a lot of broken ceramic pieces/objects that may pose a safety hazard. The path was also not well-marked and it took us a while to figure out where we were and where we were going. No where to relax (see the photos), ground is just uneven rocks. A lot of garbage. The views are unique and beautiful though."

"This is the entry point to some private farms with pomegranates, figs, and more. We didn’t go inside them, and it’s also the path leading to the abandoned village of Jebal Akhdar. The road towards the top is only wide enough for two vehicles, so driving can be a bit tricky. You’ll definitely need a four-wheel drive.

We visited during a long holiday weekend, and there was quite a crowd, with limited parking available. Before you reach to the hiking path, which is clearly marked, you’ll find a few kiosks selling ice cream, fresh fruits, juices, and even a new coffee spot. Once you pass that, you reach the hike-starting point, with a descent down the stairs, heading toward the wadi.

The walk takes around 10–20 minutes. You’ll need to cross the wadi (most seasons it’s dry, but this time there was some water, so we didn’t go all the way to the village) and then ascend to reach the village.

It’s really interesting to see how Omanis lived in the past and how their houses were constructed. Avoid midday—the sun is too harsh and climbing back up will drain you. Take plenty of water and a couple of sweets or protein bars for safety. Kids can do this light hike, that’s enjoyable. You can really take in the nature while doing it. If you’ve parked your vehicle at a distance, be prepared for another short uphill road trek."

"Beautiful spot for pictures and amazing videos while visiting area. Free parking, kiosks with ice creams and soft drinks by the entrance. Coffee shop at the lookout spot. It’s free of charge. Must see."
