Nakhal Fort - Oman

End of last year we visited Oman and drove outside of Muscat to visit a few forts. Nakhal was my favorite of the three forts we saw. All were also nearly competently empty of people besides us, which gave it a cool feel.

The surrounding greenery and mountain backdrop create a peaceful atmosphere, and recent renovations have improved amenities like parking. Some find the water's warmth particularly soothing, and many appreciate it as a relaxing escape.

"Its a amazing place.. It’s a very beautiful place… the water is slightly warm… lots of fish giving a massage… greenery all around… separate seating areas."

Rubeena Fareed

"Ain Al Thawarah, Nakhal – Nestled at the foot of the mountains, this warm spring flows gently like a small waterfall, creating a picturesque view. Its natural beauty and peaceful surroundings make it an ideal spot for a relaxing and refreshing time."

MD SHAHINULLAH

"Ain Al Thawara is a natural hot spring that offers a relaxing and refreshing experience, surrounded by the beauty of nature. Even during the colder seasons, the water remains warm, making it a great spot to visit year-round. The setting is peaceful, with palm trees and mountains creating a calm backdrop perfect for a short escape from the city.

If you are planning to visit on a Friday, make sure to come early. It gets busy with both locals and tourists looking to enjoy the spring, especially in the morning. The main pool is small, so you may need to wait for your turn as others finish. It is a shared space, so patience and respect go a long way.

One important thing to keep in mind — no diving. The water is not deep enough, and it is more of a spot to soak and relax rather than swim. Still, it is a charming and enjoyable place that gives you a taste of Oman’s natural beauty and community atmosphere."
