Reviews Summary
Khor Rori is highly praised for its stunning natural beauty and rich historical significance as the ancient port of Sumhuram. Visitors are captivated by the blend of picturesque estuary views and the tangible remnants of a bygone era, making it a memorable historical and scenic destination.
"Khor Rori is a very scenic place with breathtaking views of the lake and the powerful Arabian Sea. Standing on the site of the ancient city of Sumhuram, once an important port in the frankincense trade, really feels like stepping back in time. The small museum offers a short video about the history and displays a few artifacts such as pottery and other findings, which helps bring the story of the place to life.
It can easily be a self-guided tour if you take time to read the information boards, and the surrounding area adds to the experience with plenty of camels roaming around. You can even feed them near the lake, where there are also fish. Our kids were super excited to learn something new about the past of Oman while enjoying the natural beauty of the site."
