"Hale Lake is a beautiful location, especially for nature lovers, but it really needs proper maintenance. I visited in September 2025 and was quite disappointed because the viewpoints around the lake were covered with tall grass, and the sitting areas were in very poor condition. There’s also a small zoo area, but it was completely empty.
Despite these issues, you can still enjoy the lake view, have tea, cook, or go fishing in some selected spots of your choice. Swimming is not allowed, as it is said that crocodiles live in the lake.
As for the road conditions, the bridge in the center is still damaged, so you’ll have to do a bit of off-roading to reach there. However, the road from the National Highway up to the bridge and after the bridge is in good condition."

"I last went there for fishing with my father more than a decade ago, and then a few days ago and I am truly astonished by the surroundings. It's a very nice, calm and beautiful picnic spot.
A recent development is that now there is a STDC Motel you can rent, just in front of the lake with a beautiful view. Moreover, the sitting and cooking area is also a new addition for the ease of the visitors.
There is a wild life sanctuary nearby and you can also see a lot of different kinds of beautiful birds.
The place is not suitable for fishing these days as we could not find a single fish in 5-6 hrs, not sure if it's just us.
Overall, a very good place to spend a day / night with friends or family."
