The structure, with its modest arches and weather-worn façade, evokes a time when Lahore was a flourishing center of art, trade, and imperial power. The gateway likely served as a transitional point between urban Lahore and its surrounding gardens, tombs, and settlements during the Mughal and later Sikh periods.

"This is so beautiful momounts and amazing structure. People capture the all land of gateway and also the main building of gateway. Side houses extend their property on the main gate building and also damage the wall and roof and build their wash rooms and other structure. Both side of gate way encroaching by shopkeeper and convert into shops. Gate structure damage day by day and loosing his beauty and historical importance by passing every minute. But in all conditions the wall painting and fresco work still survive in some part of gate and showing his glory. I request to archeological department please safe this historic landmark otherwise it will never seen in future."
