Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning panoramic views from Cerro Gaital's summit and the rich biodiversity along its trails. However, many caution that the final ascent is extremely challenging and potentially dangerous, advising against it for those without significant hiking experience or a guide. The unreliability of GPS navigation is also a common point of frustration.
"First thing's first; don't use Google maps to get here. Look up directions online and have them printed or in a screenshot, there's no service on the road to Cerro Gaital.
This is a beautiful place, full of incredible wildlife and beautiful plants and views from the mountain. Most of the trail is fairly easy, but pay attention when they tell you that the last bit to the summit is extremely difficult. Don't attempt it without a guide or a lot of experience hiking in mountains and dense jungle. Bring waterproof boots, a rain coat and lots of water."
Andrew Cumming
"Easy to go to the first lookout, but after that it's dangerous, sometimes you have to climb with only your hands and a rope. You have to be in very good condition."
Vianney
"Do not use Google maps for directions to this place. Speak to your hotel or hostel about directions. We didn't make it. This is just a warning."
