Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Arco Chato Santo Domingo Convent for its iconic stone arch and peaceful courtyard, noting it's a free and worthwhile stop in Casco Viejo. However, many wish for more historical context on-site, suggesting a quick pre-visit research to fully appreciate its significance.

"These ruins are of a monastery and you can enter from the side and walk around. As you do you'll find another gate you can enter that leads to a courtyard. This is free to visit and worth a few minutes as you're exploring the old town."

Heather S.

"Magnificent ruin and a must see but the history behind is great and I don’t get that there is no sign explaining the background. Okay you can goggle the thing but it would not take a lot of efforts to have a sign in front. There is one telling you where you are in the old city but not a peep about about the « miracle » behind this great piece of architecture. Read that they will build a replica since it is falling apart."

Patrick Tanguy

"Old ruins like this are seen throughout the old quarter of Panama city. This building dates bak to late 17th century. You can only admire it from outside as access inside is restricted."
