"This emblematic colonial mansion is located in the heart of the historic center of Arequipa, Peru, just steps from the Plaza de Armas. It was built in 1738 using white sillar, a typical volcanic stone from the "White City." It is currently owned by BBVA Bank of Peru. Entrance is free from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Its facade is beautiful, as is the interior. I recommend visiting on a weekday, including Saturdays."

"Located next to the Plaza de Armas, this colonial house is one of the best-preserved from the period. The feline-shaped knockers on its main door stand out, a symbol of high military rank indicating that, for years, the property was in the hands of soldiers and their families. You can also see the bulla, flower-shaped ornaments very common in colonial architecture. These ornamental details are repeated throughout the house, both in the metalwork and in the ashlar carving, reflecting the artistic style of the period.
Thanks to the conservation work carried out by BBVA, this heritage site deserves to be appreciated and visited by more people, as it represents a sustainable model that combines the functionality of a bank with the promotion of culture.
Although the house is open during office hours, the art gallery opens at 3:00 p.m., making it an excellent place to visit if you are in the city center."
