Reviews Summary
Kandungaw Peak is praised for its breathtaking views and rewarding challenge, making it a must-visit for adventurers. While the hike is demanding and requires good fitness, the stunning panoramas from the summit are consistently highlighted as worth the effort. Some visitors note the trail can be tough, especially on the descent, and advise carrying ample water.
"For me it’s quite challenging because from the starting point you need to go uphill. It was sunny when we went and the air is getting thinner as we go along but it’s worth it. Entrance fee is 50php the lady insist that we should get a guide but we refused and found a small refreshing store that sells water and soda’s and asked a little girl to guide us to the cave underneath the peak, to avoid getting lost. But there is a sign anyway."

"I hike from sea level to the top starting near Badian. I only recommend it if you're extremely experienced because the path in 3-4 sections has been reclaimed by nature and you may get load and have to U-turn. Especially from Sohoton onwards. I bumped into a family of many children just before the peak and several aggressive dogs and a dead goat with goats around it wailing. It took me 8 hours return trip to hike it all. I was well covered from the sun but 2.5 litres of water weren't enough so I struggled in the last two hours with dehydration. Nevertheless amazing views"

"This hike is brilliant as you get access to both Kandungaw and Sunset peaks in the one climb. 50 pesos entry fee.
The hike itself is harder than the others in the area, it can take 40-60 minutes depending on your fitness and what you're carrying. There are resting places along the way. The way down is long and hurts the knees with all the steps.
I went early, but the cloud didn't clear until about 09:00 so if you wake up and see clouds over the peaks maybe hold off a bit. But it is good to climb under the cover of cloud so it's not too hot.
I was there on a public holiday so unfortunately there were about 30 people at the top, they take every combination of photos known to man but I was waiting for the cloud to clear so was happy to wait, eventually I got the whole peak to myself after everyone else had left. I think on a normal day if you go early you won't have this problem.
The scooter ride from Moalboal is absolutely fine, the reviews stating it is dangerous are outdated, there is no difficult bit of the road anymore. There is about 400m of construction and it's all on the flat, no inclines or declines. It is steep when descending though so make sure your brakes are ok for the trip down towards Moalboal.
There is also a cave, I followed the sign and climbed down towards the cave, I found "a cave" but wasn't sure if it was the right one, however I didn't want to go any further down as it was very narrow and the vegetation had given way under my feet before, I nearly fell off the cliff. Found a cave, not sure if it was THE cave, was quite small but you can go inside. Dangerous path was all wet, narrow and slippery.
