"The stone church was started being built in 1638 and was finished around in 1650 under the term of Reverend Dionisio Suarez O.S.A. In June of 1899 the US Navy monitor ship the USS Monadnock fired upon the belfry of the church creating holes in the structure - this action was part of the Philippine-American War."
